Brown Bear May 2006

Fern Spaulding-Rivers - Age 10

My beautiful 11' 7" brown bear I hunted in May of 2006.   I used 2 shots with a .375 H&H Mag. and Barnes .270 grain Triple-Shock bullets.
My first shot was at about 35 yards, and the second one at 112 yards.

The bear was so big that when he walked in the tundra he pressed holes in the ground! Look at the size and length of these steps in the snow!

This is my second shot at 112 yds.  First shot was with the bear standing
in the rocks at the right side of the photo, just 35 yds away!
This is what I looked like to the bear, and just about how close I felt
to the Bear too!  If this was a video you would see my legs shaking!

Closing in carefully to be sure of the trophy. Our camp on the beach, on the nicest day.

The front track of my bear with one of my .375 rounds in it.
It's a 270 gr. Barnes Triple Shock in front of a whole lot of powder.
For my larger calibers, like the .375 H&H and .300 Win Mag, I like
a muzzle break and I use my McCoy's shooting armor to reduce recoil.

This is a list of the game I have taken so far.
  1. Barren Ground Caribou (3)

  2. Kudu

  3. Klipspringer

  4. Warthog

  5. Gemsbok (2)

  6. Springbuck

  7. Jackal

  8. Dall Sheep

  9. Marco Polo

  10. Brown Bear

  11. Grizzly Bear

You don't have to be a grown-up man to shoot high power.
